Interview with Rock Ethics Institute
The following interview occurred in the fall of 2009 with Penn State's Rock Ethics Institute. As a member of the student organization, Penn State Beyond Coal, I became actively involved in Penn State's energy future, particularly concerning the refurbishment of the coal-powered West Campus steam plant. In this interview, I discuss Beyond Coal's development, Penn State's energy future, the UN energy conference held in Copenhagen, and ways for students to get involved.
Penn State administration has subsequently announced that the West Campus steam plant will be powered by natural gas. Essentially winning the campaign, I have now become involved in different sustainability issues at Penn State.

Press Release
Following the link is an example of a press release I wrote during my work with the Sierra Club's "Beyond Coal" campaign. As an activist, I became very familiar with the media, writing countless media adversaries and press releases. Learning this type of writing proved to be quite useful, ensuring that my group, Penn State Beyond Coal, was consistently covered in the school and local newspapers. This particular press release followed a meeting Penn State Beyond Coal held with Penn State's President Graham Spanier to discuss sustainability at Penn State and coal use in the West Campus Steam Plant.
